Microsoft : KIN Launch
Experiential Events

Brief
Microsoft was launching its first ever phone, focused on a young social demographic. Wexley, one of 12 agencies on the launch, was teamed with KIN's Experiential Marketing group to help launch the brand to the consumer at Coachella, as well as to the press and internally to Microsoft.

Execution
We partnered with Workbench Creative to create the KIN Lounge, a place for weary Coachella goers to hang out, relax and engage with the brand. The air-conditioned lounge was populated with vintage arcade games, couches, a customizable t-shirt station, phone recharging station, interactive art walls, create-your-own costume photo booth, live dance contests, prizes, and computers dialed to their social networks. On campus we threw KIN a birthday party loaded with a cupcake cannon, break dancers, live DJs, photo booths, a giant exploding cake, and an indie marching band.

Result
Coachella was a smash success, with more than triple the amount of Facebook sign ups the client had hoped for, and was voted the #1 tent at Coachella. The on campus event was a win as well, packed throughout the day with a surprise visit by Ballmer himself.
